We work with a wide range of healthcare providers, offering exciting opportunities in mental health hospitals, learning disability services, care homes, and occupational health settings.

What does a Support Worker do?

As a Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in helping individuals live as independently as possible. Your responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of the person you’re supporting, but they may include:

  • Encouraging independence and providing emotional support
  • Assisting with daily tasks such as meal preparation and household activities
  • Supporting social and community engagement
  • Promoting personal care and wellbeing
  • Helping individuals with mental health needs, learning disabilities, or complex conditions

What is the difference between a Support Worker and a Healthcare Assistant?

While both roles involve providing essential care and support, the main difference is that generally Support Workers are there to give guidance and support service users in completing more personal care tasks independently. Whereas a Healthcare Assistant typically provides more hands-on care with things like washing, dressing and eating.

At Jane Lewis, we offer roles that allow you to work across both positions, depending on your experience and preference.
